3 platna (3 Canvases) is a project of Turbo galerija (Turbo Gallery) and Trainstation SubArt, situated in Kranj, Slovenia, where artists are given a set of three canvases and an exhibition date.
My exhibition was in November 2021, under the title “Connected by Distance”.
The connecting tissue between the three canvases is the contrast between close and far. They are to notify about the crucial importance of differences, which complement each other and create a bigger picture of the world.

Distance
Why distances in culture? Why not just one?
Cultures have to be different, it’s the only way for the world to be truly interesting and for us to fix global issues, with the aid of different perspectives.
With this painting I wanted to emphasize, that differences are crucial and that we need to keep dialogue alive.
Getting on the same page is difficult, but possible, which I showed on the painting by bending the space around the characters.
Departing
Where are we going?
Recently, we’ve been experiencing more and more extreme ecological circumstances; scorching summers, natural disasters, unusable crops..
Something’s not right here!
This painting shows a bird, which is personifying nature and, in combination with the other paintings, love, that is drifting into the background.
This movement is as a result of the city, which is not built IN nature, but rather, ON it, showing human tendencies when it comes to nature (deforestation…).

Bond
How well are we doing?
Some lelements are stable, while most of them fall. Our solutions are effective, but not all of them. And the least effective are the most obvious ones. But to succeed, that shouldn’t be the case.
As stated, not everything that should be stable, is.
The main meaning of this painting is my feelings toward this whole situation. I do believe that issues like global warming are solvable, but every unfulfilled promise breaks that belief.
In short, the first canvas shows the goal, the second the problem, and the third how I feel about it. The order of the paintings is primarily visual – the problem is in the center, and beside it are the supporting paintings.
